Everyone wants to know (especially since I'm located in a town in Ohio where all natural products are just becoming the norm for some homes) ... so how did you come up with this idea for your small business? Well, I've always brainstormed different jobs I could do from home, and it seemed the timing was right since I had recently become a stay-at-home mom. I can't imagine anyone else being with my baby for more waking hours of the day than I get to spend with him, yet I still desire to feel productive on other fronts. My husband is a beekeeper and when he kept bringing home beeswax from capturing bees (you know, from people's house rafters, porches, trees, etc.), I started to wonder what I could do with it. After doing some research, I began to be very fascinated by all of the healing and wholesome properties that many different plants, herbs, oils, and other natural honey bee by-products possess, and so I started to experiment. Call it 'tree-hugging, hippie-freakish,' but I'm calling it God's healing gift to humans. We, as a human race, have seemed to become very dependent on and trusting of conventional medicine and over-the-counter body care that we don't even bother to read (or try to decipher!) the ingredients lists. However, if the time is taken to do that with even one body or home product used regularly, most people will probably wish they hadn't. That is the reason that I started to try to change my household cleaning supplies as well as my body care products over to all-natural products. It hasn't been an overnight process, and I'm not even close to completing the list, but it is intriguing how many simple ingredients I already have in my kitchen that can be used in place of many chemicals. Anyway, to make a long story short, I strive to make people aware that it is feasible (and affordable) to live a more natural life, while not having to give up pleasant scents and fun packaging. You may have to buy some products more often, but that's because they do not contain preservatives that can be harmful to your body. Many of these products will not only help the physical issue at hand (dry skin, chapped lips, scrapes, etc.), but will also work on underlying issues and help to balance your mental, emotional, environmental, social, and spiritual states as well.* So from my hive to yours, here's to a more wholesome way of living!
